What’s there to do in Iowa? The Gnome knows. His name is Elwood and he is the worlds largest cement garden gnome and you can find him at Reiman Gardens in Ames, Iowa. Reiman Gardens is a 17 acre garden, butterfly sanctuary and horticultural art center on the campus of Iowa State University. Driving an RV there? Don’t bother to unhook, it is located right across the street from Jack Trice Stadium, home of the mighty Iowa State Cyclones, just don’t show up during a home game.

If you are blasting across the state this is a great place to bring a bag lunch and slow your roll for a few hours, or half a day! With plenty of walking paths, beautiful water features and lawn art, as well an amazing butterfly sanctuary and butterfly educational center there is plenty for everyone to do and see.

When your time here is done, and you get back on the road after admiring Elwood, remember, you are only 404 miles from Cawker City. KS, home of the worlds largest ball of twine!
